COVID-19 – Province of BC Health Officer Orders are NOT OPTIONAL

Village of McBride and District Residents, I urge you to please follow COVID-19 advice from Dr. Bonnie Henry. These orders and health advisories are NOT OPTIONAL: Social Distancing is necessary to protect our community and its members.

The Village of McBride activated its Emergency Operations Centre on March 12, 2020 in response to COVID-19. The Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has been communicating daily and issuing new orders. There have been increasing closures in various business and public sector and she has been stressing the need for social distancing, hand washing and self isolation when necessary.

If you have questions or are uncertain about any of these orders please contact Sheila McCutcheon: cao@mcbride.ca or Karen Dube: karen@mcbride.ca or call the Village Office at 250-569-2229.

Province of BC Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry Orders:
We are reminding British Columbians that their actions today will determine the impact of the virus in coming weeks. March 21, 2020

SOCIAL DISTANCING REMINDERS:
Now is the time to stay home as much as possible, and keep a safe distance from others (2 metres, 6 feet from others) when in the community.

REDUCE RISK OF INFECTION REMINDERS:

  • Stay home.
  • REMINDER: Practice social distancing (staying 2 metres apart from others) if you must leave your home.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Using soap and water is the single most effective way of reducing the spread of infection.
  • If a sink is not available, alcohol based hand rubs (ABHR) can be used to clean your hands as long as they are not visibly soiled. If they are visibly soiled, use a wipe and then ABHR to effectively clean them.
  • Do not touch your face, eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow when you sneeze or cough.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Do not share food, drinks, utensils, etc.
