Employment Opportunity - Public Works Casual/On-call PW2 (1 position)

 

 

The Corporation of the Village of McBride is looking for a casual/on-call Public Works Laborer and equipment operator.  This is an on-call position for limited hours as required to cover absences of a permanent employee or augment staff during peak periods.

This is a casual, on-call union (CLAC Local 501) position. Wage as per collective agreement - $24.30/hr (2020 rates).

Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, the successful candidate will perform a variety of duties which include, but are not limited to, maintenance, repairs and improvements to Roads and Sidewalks, Water and Sewer Systems, Cemetery, Parks, and Buildings. Also includes routine maintenance and minor field repairs to Village equipment, including grader, mini excavator, backhoe, dump truck, loader, skid steer, lawn mowers and garbage truck.  Manual labor, operation of various small tools along with Village fleet of equipment, will be utilized to perform a variety of tasks as directed by the Public Works Foreman. This position demands that the individual be extremely safety conscious to protect themselves, crew, the public and Village infrastructure.  Candidate must be a team player able to work as part of a crew and on their own, with limited supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License
  • Air Brakes Endorsement and Endorsement 20 or Class 3 with Air Brakes preferred
  • Preference will be given to applicants who possess certification in Water Distribution, Wastewater Distribution, grader, and other equipment related experience or aptitude.

Employment Opportunity - Temporary Part-Time Administrative Assistant (22.5 hours/week)

 

 

The Corporation of the Village of McBride has an immediate need to fill a Temporary Part-Time Administrative Assistant position.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will be a key member of the administration team, performing general office duties and providing exceptional customer service and information to the public. This position may also include the handling ICBC transactions for motor vehicle licensing. 

This is a temporary, part-time union (CLAC Local 501) position at 22.5 hours per week. Administrative Assistant wage is $20.34/hr (2020 rates).

The Village is also looking for an interim Grant Writer, which could offer additional hours for a suitable candidate.
