WILDFIRE INFORMATION UPDATE FROM THE VILLAGE OF McBRIDE
July 11, 2017 10:00AM
The Province of British Columbia has declared a provincial state of emergency due to the extensive number of wild fires affecting many communities in the Central Interior and Cariboo Regions.
The Village of McBride will post information on their web site www.mcbride.ca and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/VillageMcBride/. Residents are encouraged to use these sites to access accurate information.
Printed releases will be posted at the Village Office, the local detachment of the RCMP, Beaverview Lodge, AG Foods and the Visitor Information Centre.
At this time, there are no fires of significance in the McBride area. Smoke in the air is from the many fires in the Cariboo Region. With continued hot weather the situation can change quickly. All residents are encouraged to be prepared by having a 72-hour emergency kit. The following link shows what to put in your kit.
Smoke will continue to flow into the Robson Valley today from the many fires in the Cariboo Region.
Additional evacuation orders and alerts have occurred in the Williams Lake area. This has resulted in increased traffic through our area. For accurate road information go to DriveBC
Locally, several community volunteers have set up an Evacuee Comfort Centre at the Robson Valley Community Centre so that evacuees travelling to Prince George can stop for a break. They are also coordinating some local services for travellers. They have set up a Facebook page to coordinate local support. If you are looking for ways to help, please contact this volunteer group or visit their Facebook page
Evacuees from 100 Mile House and other locations in the Cariboo are being directed to the official Emergency Centres in Prince George.
As of 8:00AM Monday, July 10 an open fire ban came into effect in the Prince George Fire Centre including the Robson Valley. For additional information on fire bans visit
